Travel Project Management

The Stricct Travel Connector extends Business Central's Jobs (projects) with travel-specific fields, allowing you to track travel spending at the project level. This is useful when your agency manages travel for events, corporate accounts, or other projects that need consolidated cost tracking.

Setting Up a Travel Project

  1. In Business Central, search for Jobs and open the Jobs list.
  2. Create a new job or open an existing one.
  3. On the job card, fill in the travel-specific fields added by the extension -- these include fields for tracking travel metrics and authorization settings.
  4. Set up authorization controls if you want to require approval before bookings can be linked to this project. This helps prevent unauthorized travel charges from being assigned to the wrong project.

Linking Bookings to a Project

When a booking is processed into a sales order, it can be linked to a job. The project reference is carried through from the booking data -- if the booking system includes a project reference, it is mapped to the corresponding job in Business Central automatically.

You can also manually assign or change the job reference on the sales order before posting.

Viewing Project-Level Travel Data

To see all travel activity for a project:

  1. Open the relevant Job Card.
  2. Review the job planning lines to see individual booking entries linked to the project.
  3. Use standard Business Central job reports to analyse total travel spend, broken down by product type or time period.

Authorization controls ensure that only approved bookings are charged to each project, giving project managers confidence in the reported figures.
